St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Mrs. Patrick Edmond Laperouse, the former Ethel Berard.

Msgr. Douglas Courville officiated the services.

Interment followed at St. Michael’s Mausoleum.

A native and resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Laperouse passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Laperouse was a loving mother and grandmother, who had a beautiful smile and continuously brought joy to her family. Her sassy character made her enjoyable to be around at all the family weddings and birthday parties. She will be missed dearly by all her knew and loved her.

She is survived by her five children, Cheryl Laperouse of St. Martinville; Patrick Laperouse, Jr. and his wife Amy of St. Martinville; Donna Green and her husband Robert “Bobby” of St. Martinville; Robert Laperouse and his wife Yvette of Loreauville and Vickie Thibodeaux and her husband Danny of Parks; seven grandchildren, Shaune Laperouse and wife Lacy; Cody Laperouse, Ali Laperouse, Monique Richard, Tammy Crochet and husband Eric; Blake Laperouse and Bailey Thibodeaux; one step grandchild, Jamie Covington; two great-grandchildren, Jolie Laperouse and Grayson Poche; one step great-grandchild, Chloe Covington, and one sister, Agnes “Ca” Romero of Loreauville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Edmond Laperouse; one son, Rodney Laperouse; parents, Louis and Agnes Blanchard Berard; three sisters, Vivian Landry, Irene Boudreaux and Louday Faucheaux, and four brothers, Allen, Leonard, Albert and Linden Berard Sr.

Pallbearers were Patrick Laperouse, Jr., Robert Laperouse, Robert “Bobby” Green, Danny Thibodeaux, Shaune Laperouse and Cody Laperouse.

Honorary pallbearers were Eric Crochet, Bailey Thibodeaux, Blake Laperouse, Ali Laperouse, Jolie Laperouse, Tammy Crochet and Monique Richard.
