St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 28, 2010, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Adamar “A. J.” Dugas, 70, who passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Iberia Medical Center.

Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Loreauville.

Msgr. J. Douglas Courville officiated at the funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Shea Blanchard. Gift Bearers were Zoe Dugas and Madison Daigle. Music was provided by Pat Melancon.

A. J. was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having honorably served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Venture Transport and Ace Transportation.

A. J. was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Ann LaGrange Dugas of St. Martinville; three sons, Lyle Dugas and his wife Stephanie of Coteau Holmes, Keith Daigle and his wife Diane, and James Perez and his wife Dorie, all of New Iberia; two daughters, Charlotte Blanchard and her husband Dean of Breaux Bridge, and Junette Ledet and her husband Chris of Gonzales; one brother, Dalton Dugas and his wife Rena of Coteau Holmes; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernest and Zoe Berard Dugas; his two sisters, Aline Dugas and Ulene Guidry; a brother, Harry “Hop” Dugas; and two nephews, Lee and Lonnie Dugas.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Pallbearers were Brock Daigle, Ryan LaGrange, Edrick Prados, Casey Dugas, Jason Dugas, Orsen Daigle Jr. and Richard Daigle.

Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
