Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Mitchell Lucien Broussard, 93, who passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Opelousas General Medical Center.

Entombment followed at St. Bernard Mausoleum No. 1.

He was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He believed in the riches of the world by becoming a farmer and sharing his produce that he grew in his garden. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed visiting family and friends, playing cards, entertaining those he loved by telling jokes and will be remembered by his kindness, his spirit of sharing and most of all, being a very meticulous individual about the up keep of his yard. The biggest joy of his life was his wife, Alta, of 73 years, whom he adored, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Alta “Toutout” Breaux Broussard of Arnaudville; his sons, Nathan Broussard (Judy) of Carencro and Michael Broussard (Cindy) of Cecilia; his daughters, Dorothy Daspit (Raymond) of St. Martinville and Sandra Benoit (Raymond) of Breaux Bridge; his brother, Clarence Broussard of Cecilia; his sister, Mrs. Howard (Nola Mae) Huval of Breaux Bridge; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Azelia Broussard; his grandsons, Paul Broussard and Mitchell Daspit; a great-grandson, David John Daspit; and his sisters, Margie Huval and Enola Domingue.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
