State Police said Michael Fitzgerald, 48, was riding his bike southbound on LA. 354 south of I10 when it was struck from the rear by a car driven by Andrew Arnaud, 25, also of Breaux Bridge.
Fitzgerald was taken to a Lafayette hospital, where he was listed in critical conditon.
Arnaud is charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle.
