Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 28, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Ethel “TaTa” Gobar Sam, 88, who passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at her residence.

Interment followed at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Leona) Washington and Mrs. Jake (Elaine) Mathews of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Wilbert (Janice) Demouchet and Mrs. Gerard (Nancy) Sam of Breaux Bridge, and Mrs. Dwight (Sandra) Watson of Lafayette; one brother, Wallace Gobar of Port Arthur, Texas; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Sam Sr.; three sons, Alex Sam Jr., Curley Sam and John F. Sam; five sisters, Gertrude Perrot, Norrine Sylvester, Jeanette Alexis, Ruby Paul and Marie Journet.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge, was in charge of arrangements.
