With classes beginning this past Monday, parish high school football teams have switched to regular afternoon practice sessions and are planning scrimmages with neighboring schools later this week.

    Breaux Bridge and St. Martinville will hold their scrimmages on Thursday. The Crawfish Capital Tigers will host New Iberia High at 5:30 p.m. while The ’Ville will take on Lafayette High in St. Martinille, also at 5:30.

    The Cecilia Bulldogs, who move up to Class 4A status this year, will scrimmage Erath, a former District 6-3A foe, at 6 p.m. on Friday in Cecilia.

    Fans are also reminded that all three local teams will take part in the 58th annual Lafayette Kiwanis Jamboree at ULL’s Cajun Field next week.

    St. Martinville will play Lafayette High in the opening game at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27. Breaux Bridge goes against the Comeaux Spartans in the nightcap contest around 9 p.m.
