Sheriff Daniel Edwards of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that on Wednesday, March 25, the Tri-Parish Narcotics Agents arrested Kyle L. Ard, dob June 19, 2974 of 85533 Durban Road in Independence on drug charges.
While patrolling the Amite area, narcotic agents observed a w/m walk up to a maroon colored SUV, enter through the passenger side doorway and exit just a few minutes later. Based on experience, agents had reason to believe that a street level drug transaction has just taken place inside of the maroon SUV. Agents then initiated a traffic stop on the maroon colored Suburban. As agents approached the vehicle, they observed the driver, Ard, place an object in his mouth. Agents directed Ard to exit the vehicle and remove the object from his mouth. After a short altercation, Ard removed the item. Agents described the object as a clear plastic bag housing several smaller plastic bags containing a white powder substance. This substance is believed to be powder cocaine.
Kyle L. Ard was then arrested and transported to the TPSO Jail for proper booking. Ard was charged with possession with the intent to distribute schedule II narcotics, resisting an officer and obstructing justice.
