Iota Volunteers for Family and Community (VFC) held their regular monthly meeting on March 2, 2009, at the Iota City Hall.

Members heard a recap of their activities at the Tee Mamou Iota Mardi Gras Festival. Pralines were sold at the VFC booth andsales netted almost $1200.

Members discussed the expenses involved with this project and decided that beginning in September, each member would contribute $5 a month towards this expense, the pecans being the greatest expense.

The club members also assist the Mardi Gras Association with the sale of the official T-Shirts and received a commission for this involvement.

Ruth Ann Klumpp, president; discussed the changes in the categories for the upcoming Achievement Day entries. Each member will receive a list of these soon.  Elaine Chatagnier, AVFC president, discussed the upcoming convention to be held in April in New Iberia.  Elaine also read a thank-you card from Geraldine LeJeune, a cancer patient.

The St. Francis Book Fair was discussed and Bernel Credeur moved that the club donate $50 to each of the Iota schools for their book fair events.  Darleen Courville moved that the club donate $100 to Mr. Jimmy Newman, who lost his home in a fire. Audrey Miller, treasurer; will see that these checks be delivered.

The next meeting will be held at the City Hall on April 6 at 9:30 a.m. All interested in joining the club are welcome.
