Members of the Iota Volunteers for Family and Community learned how to make “Jiffy Hats” at their regular monthly meeting held at the Iota City Hall.

Jo Ann Dupuis, a member of the Roberts Cove Club and the parish special projects leader, presented this program to the Iota members. Jo Ann demonstrated that these hats are made from frames which can be purchased at WalMart , and crochet or knitting thread is used to wind around the frame and create the hats.

No sewing is needed.  This project is part of the Roberts Cove continuing program of making “Hats for Cancer”.  Jo Ann stated that the group has made almost 1000 hats.  These are given outat oncology centers in the area. She presented several to Elaine Chatagnier for her use and to share with her niece, Cynthia Bellon.

Ruth Ann Klump, Iota VFC president, thanked Jo Ann for her informative program and for the great work their club is doing.

The meeting was opened by the president, who called on Gloria Gaspard to lead the Pledge of Allegiance, Bernel Credeur to lead the Club Collect and Audrey Miller to lead the Homemaker’s Prayer.

Minutes were distributed by secretary, Elaine Chatagnier, and Audrey Miller presented the financial report. Elaine, Acadia VFC President, reported that Mary Ann Sagrera, Acadia Family Life Chair, turned in an annual report to LVFC.

Ruth Ann reported that she and Elaine attended a state board meeting at Tall Timbers and Ruth Ann presented a workshop on Environment and Elaine gave a workshop on the duties of the secretary. Ruth Ann is the new State Environment Chairman for 2009-2010, and Elaine is the new State Secretary for 2009-2010.
