CROWLEY – Notre Dame junior golf standout Ali Lucas continues to shine on the links.

Lucas, Class AAA’s individual state champion as a sophomore, recently paired with Comeaux High’s Anna Heim to win the Girls’ Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour 4-Ball Championship at Pelican Pointe in Gonzales.

Heim recently gave a verbal commitment to Samford University in Alabama.

The duo shot a 73 in the opening round Saturday before rounding out the victory with a 78 the following day. High winds and tough pin placement on Sunday resulted in higher all-round scores.

Lucas battled some extremely quick greens and winds with up to 20 mph gusts a week prior to the 4-Ball championships to win the AJGT - Koasati Pines Jr. Classic in Kinder. She carded an 82 on the first day and an 85 the second for a total of 167. In all, Lucas posted five birdies during the two-day event.

Heim finished tied for the lead, but was defeated by Lucas in a one-hole sudden death playoff.

In December, Lucas was invited to participate in the AJGT Tournament of Champions in Gulf Shores, Al.

She fought back from four strokes behind to finish runnerup with a card of 78-78. During the tournament, she battled against a stiff field of competition that included girls who will be playing golf next year at the University of Kentucky, Arkansas and Samford.
