Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. Musical selections for the service include, “Be Not Afraid”, “Take My Hand Precious Lord”, “On Eagles’ Wings”, and responsorial song, featuring Jodi Bollich, soloist, Dexter Thibodeaux, organist, and Lauren Baker, violinist. “Ave Maria” will be performed by Dexter Thibodeaux and Lauren Baker. Robert Cargo will perform “Coming Home” and “Amazing Grace” on Bagpipes during interment.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Patsy Judice Thibodeaux; one son, Jim Thibodeaux of Lafayette; one daughter, Jacqueline Thibodeaux Hodges of Mandeville and her husband, Steve; one sister, Meriam Reese, of Crowley and her husband, Joseph Reese; three nieces Abby Askin and her husband, Lynn, Carmen Reese and her husband, John Welch, Arlene Reese, and one great nephew Grant Askin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maisy and Allie Broussard Thibodeaux.
Mr. Thibodeaux was born in Acadia Parish and lived in Lafayette Parish for 46 years. He retired with the rank of Major from the Lafayette City Police Department, after 21 years of service.
A rosary was prayed by Glenn Faul at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Martin & Castille Funeral Home. After the rosary, Glenn Faul performed, “How Great Thou Art” on flute.
Visitation was observed on Wednesday February 4, 2009 from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. Visitation will continue today, Thursday, from 8 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Jim Thibodeaux, Steve Hodges, Ed Hensley, Jr., Brad Wilson, James Huval, Andy Schmitz, R.L. Duhon, and Justin Luna. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Hensley, Sr., Matt Estilette, Ed Lamb, Nolan “Crip” Guidry and Berchman Kidder.
