For those of us who are not familiar with Wii games, it is a fun sport for people of all ages played on a television set. The residents enjoy competing in games of bowling, boxing and fishing. These games can be played standing, sitting or in a wheelchair. Many movements are required and sometimes stimulate long-term memory.

Playing Wii games can improve eye and hand coordination, balance and muscular strength. Each player goes through the actual motion of throwing a ball, jabbing at their boxing partner and casting out a line while fishing. It is great entertainment and very good exercise.

This week, the staff of Savoy Care Center would like to welcome new friends Olempe Edwards and Gloria Allison.

The staff of Savoy Care Center would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the family of Lettel Vizinat. He will be missed by staff and residents.

The month of February will be very busy, as Savoy Care Center celebrates Black History Month, Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday.
