CROWLEY – The first annual “Kris Kringle for Kids” was held this past weekend. Sponsored by Crowley City Hall, the Crowley Fire Department, the Crowley Police Department, and Modern Music, the event brought in several toys for children from underprivileged families.
“This was the idea of Mark Miller of Modern Music,” said Charlotte Jeffers, Crowley’s Tourism Coordinator. “He brought the idea up with the mayor and we discussed it with K.P. (Gibson) and Jody (Viator) and they decided that it would be a good idea.”
The bands that performed included Damon Troy and Party Time, Kira Viator and Bayou Beat, Muzic Unlimited, and Freddie Pate.
“We are so thankful that they donated their time to us,” said Jeffers. “They were fabulous.”
“We would also like to extend our thanks to the Acadia Parish School Board and the Crowley Elementary guidance counselors and teachers for their help as well,” said Jeffers.
Monday afternoon the gifts that were collected were sent out for distribution by members of the Crowley Fire Department and the Crowley Police Department.
“It is our hope that by joining together our community has some deserving children have a Merry Christmas,” added Jeffers.
