Both my pastor and my Bible teach me that there will be a day when men will turn their swords into plowshares and evil will forever be extinguished on this old earth of ours.

To think of such a glorious time of love and peace is beyond mere human comprehension. Still, one yearns for the day when these prophecies become reality.

Until then, “swords” will be necessary to protect the “God-filled” from the “Godless.”

Recent school shootings, however brutal, inexplicable and depressing, only serve to remind God-fearing people that you can’t legislate morality among the immoral in this imperfect, finite world.

Gun-control advocates like Sen. Barbara Boxer, Dem.- Ca., Sen. Charles Shumer, Dem.- NY., and Sen. Hillary Clinton, Dem.- NY., will tell you that gun control will solve this cowardly, horrific behavior.

Like the rest of the liberal “policy wonks” in this country, guns would be banned throughout the United States and only the police and armed forces would be legally able to possess weapons.

In an ideal, utopian society, that might be the answer, even though all sport hunting would eventually be stopped.

But in the real world, this liberal solution would be unrealistic, ineffective and unfeasible! Criminals will always possess guns, whether they are obtained legally or not! After all, when did outlaws ever follow the written rules of the land? That’s why they’re called criminals!

Proper enforcement of existing laws would go a long way to bringing down the country’s crime rate, but this is politically unacceptable by liberal thinkers. Most object to strenuous sentences for outlaws, including the death penalty.

Contrary to what these know-it-alls will say, places where gun-control laws are the most abundant and stringent have the highest crime rates in the country. Liberal states like New York and California all have higher rates of gun crime than conservative ones, proving that liberal gun laws are flawed, misleading, and dangerous.

The bottom line is that evil, gun-toting criminals will always exist, and people trained in the arts of knowing, maintaining, and shooting guns should have the privilege of protecting themselves with privately-owned firearms.

Liberal Californians and New Yorkers could make actual positive changes by demanding that fellow liberal actors, directors and producers eliminate gratuitous sex, gory violence, and morbid perversities that are sent to our impressionable children via TV and movies. But don’t expect that to happen anytime soon, as that would encroach upon their free speech rights, I guess.

To combat gun violence in schools, highly-trained law enforcement personnel should be placed on all campuses, which would dramatically discourage those considering such shootings.

Don’t think that would help any? Well, criminals themselves have been interviewed about the planning of their crimes and have admitted that their targets were “where they thought no guns or weapons were present.”

Seems that even the dumbest of criminals have rather keen senses of self-preservation, huh?

But still, evil-minded persons bent on wrecking havoc anywhere will be tough to apprehend. The best case scenario to stop these “psychos” is to have the tools to stop them dead in their tracks. And the gun is the very best tool recommended.

There have been far too many lives lost already because of liberal thinking. Anyone who denies a law-abiding person their right of self-defense should be imprisoned, especially if harm is done to the most innocent of our society in the name of gun control.

In the meantime, I’ll patiently await the coming of the Good Lord to save this world--with my Bible, a copy of the Second Amendment, and a legal, efficient firearm, armed with doses of dry, deadly ammunition, kept right close beside me!
