A young man is in jail facing attempted second degree murder charges after allegedly shooting another man in the neck early Saturday morning.

Joshua Chevis, 22, of Eunice had allegedly been involved in an altercation with victim Gladness Thomas at Club Diamond earlier that morning.

The two subjects met again at Beulah Gardens where Chevis allegedly fired two shots following a second fistfight.

Eunice police arriving on the scene at 4:36 a.m. found Thomas to be suffering from a single gunshot wound to the right side of his neck.

The victim was reportedly treated at the Acadian Medical Center and released.

According to police, the suspect fired a second time after wounding Thomas.

Chevis was identified as the suspect by Eunice police and arrested.
