Arnaudville – Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 16, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church for Joseph “Junior” Berard, Jr., 79, who passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at 12:37 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment was in St. Francis Regis Cemetery.

Mr. Berard had served in the U.S. National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Emeline Kennison Berard of Cecilia; four sons, Warren Berard of Arnaudville, Terry Berard of Scott, and Tony Berard and John Berard, both of Duson; seven daughters, Carol Champagne of Indian Bayou, Linda Breaux, Elizabeth Guidry and Wendy Bourgeois, all of Duson, Mary Mouton of Maurice, Sharal Blanchard of Houma, and Tammy Romero of Scott; two step children, Debbie Barras and Kevin Kennison of Cecilia; six brothers, J. D. Jeansonne of Lafayette, Lynn Berard, Andrew Castille and Mike Berard, all of Breaux Bridge, Charles Berard of South Carolina and Morris Castille of Ohio; four sisters, Gloria Castille, Emily Breaux and Lou Berard, all of Breaux Bridge, and Velma Breaux of Lafayette; 31 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Melancon Funeral Home of Arnaudville was in charge of arrangements.
