CROWLEY – The month of July was a busy month for Crowley Police officers. “Our officers handled 984 calls for service, which has been about the average during the summer months,” stated Chief of Police K.P. Gibson.

“Of these calls for service, we made 112 arrest, with 9 of the 112 being juvenile offenders”, stated Chief Gibson. This averages to an arrest being made on 1 out of every 8 calls for service.

Traffic accidents had a small increase as the officers investigated 47 accidents. Of these 47 accidents, 6 were hit and run violations. With exception to the LACE program, our officers have issued 197 traffic citations within the city this month. Citations vary in location, but have been issued heavily in areas where concerned citizens have made complaints. “The goal is to reduce speeding and other traffic violations for the safety of our community and our family. Our enforcement efforts will continue until we get reasonable compliance in the various areas of town where we receive an abundance of complaints,” stated Chief Gibson.

Excessive music from motor vehicles has been another problem. “With an increased enforcement effort, we have issued over 35 excessive music violation during the past several weeks and we will continue to do so until those who choose to play loud music respect our citizens by reducing the volume of their music to a reasonable level,” stated Chief Gibson.
