Two domestic abuse incidents led to the arrest of three individuals by the Mamou Police Department recently.
In the first case, Donald Soileau, 37, 1101 First St., Mamou, and his girlfriend, Lucy Arvie, 34, 112 Eighth St., Mamou, were involved in an altercation. Mamou Detective Todd Ortis said officers responded to a domestic disturbance and found Soileau bleeding profusely from his head.
Ortis stated Soileau allegedly fought with Arvie after a verbal argument began between the two. It was then that Arvie struck Soileau with an aluminum baseball bat on the head, according to Ortis.
Soileau received medical attention at Savoy Medical Center and was later charged with domestic abuse battery, while Arvie was charged with aggravated battery.
“It started as a verbal argument, but ended in a trip to the emergency room for Soileau,” Ortis said.
The second incident involved Jimmie Robert, 52, 412 Ninth St., Mamou, who was charged with domestic abuse battery after officers responded to a domestic disturbance call.
Ortis said Robert allegedly struck his spouse after a brief argument with her. He was arrested without incident and his bond was set at $5,000. However, Robert had a hold placed on him by the Office of Probation and Parole. Ortis said he was on probation for an unrelated charge at the time he was arrested.
