MORSE – The recent monthly meeting of the Morse Town Council meeting started off with a report by Jonas Harrington of Mader Engineering.

Harrington told the council that the town’s application for Capital Outlay supplemental funding for the unfinished Water Treatment Plant is still not on the House bill for approval. This is due to the fact that, although last year’s request did make the bill, it did not make the Bond Issue last year, therefore disqualifying the request from making this year’s house bill. According to Harrington, this is happening to a lot of towns in the same situation. Another contributing factor, said Harrington, is that Governor Jindal is re-directing most of the Capital Outlay budget to New Orleans.

Harrington also gave an update on the town’s Street Improvement Project. The town has applied for a Block Grant to help fund the project, but, according to Harrington, those awarded the grants have not been named as of yet.

In other business, the council passed a motion made by Alderwoman Peggy Romero to allow Mader engineering to perform a cost estimate on extending water lines to Richard Edition.
