The 2008 St. Landry Parish 4-H Achievement Day was held on Saturday, April 19 at Opelousas High School. The event was presided over by Lisa Benoit, Associate Extension Agent (4-H). Four-H club representatives exhibited banners in a procession as a salute to participants at the opening of the program.

Mr. Wayne Gilmore and the late Lou Ella Lognion from St. Landry Parish were recognized for being inducted into the LA 4-H Hall of Fame. In recognition of outstanding contribution to 4-H club work through leadership, citizenship, community service and project work, two Scott Truck & Tractor Scholarships were presented to Lauren Beard, North Central and Melissa Rideau, Beau Chene.

Four-H’ers competed throughout the day for various awards, ribbons, certificates and a chance to represent St. Landry 4-H at the statewide competition in Baton Rouge at LSU in June. The winners of state contests compete for scholarships and trips.
