Miller captured blue ribbons in both the high jump and long jump while also running a leg on Cecilia’s first place 4X100 relay team and finishing third in the 100-meter dash.
The Bulldogs finished with 151 points while the hosting BB Tigers were second with 119. St. Martinville managed only 37 points and finished last in the six-school field.
Cecilia showed good balance and depth, claiming ribbons in both the running and field events. Along with Miller’s two gold medals, Brandon Guidry also won the pole vault in field competition while Thad Taylor finished second in the shot and Bulldogs claimed third in the high jump and pole vault.
Bulldog speedsters won the 4X100 and 4X200 relays while finishing second in the 4X400, picking up big points.
Meet Record
BB’s Ricky Babineaux set a new meet record in the 300-meter hurdles, clocking a winning 41.5. Babineaux also placed first in the triple jump. Other first place Tigers included Jeremy Calais in the 100 and Lance Derouselle in the 110 hurdles.
The Teurlings Catholic Lady Rebels dominated the girls division, piling up 128 points while Cecilia finished second with 64. Breaux Bridge’s girls were fourth, behind Opelousas Catholic, with 52 points St. Martinville finished last with 47.
Andrea Joubert was Cecilia’s only gold medalist, winning the discus, but Lady Bulldogs claimed second place ribbons in the 4X100 relay, 100, triple jump and pole vault, along with thirds in the 4X400, the 400 and javelin.
Breaux Bridge collected three blue ribbons — Danielle Chaisson in both the 100 hurdles and high jump, and Skyler Thomas in the 100. Chaisson also finished second in the 300 hurdles while Thomas was third in the 200.
SM’s Lady Tigers managed two first place finishes, with Kaisha Andrus winning the 400-meter dash and Tiffany Richard taking the 300 hurdles.
Richard earned Outstanding Field Performer honors by finishing second in both the high jump and long jump.
