Arnaudville – An Arnaudville icon is expanding its headquarters once again!

Guidry’s Fresh Cuts has called a 30,000-square-foot building home since 2004. In July, owner Kevin Guidry, his family and staff broke ground on a new 21,000 square feet state-of-the-art establishment that will house the bagging, onion peel, and gumbo department of the business.

You may be wondering, “Gumbo side of the business – what is that?” Guidry’s Fresh Cuts launched Guidry’s Cajun Foods after the success of their Creole Seasoning Mix. The Creole seasoning sold by Guidry’s has a shelf life of 10 to 12 days. Ray Venable, an employee with Guidry’s, created a hydrated seasoning mix that would hold all the great flavors of their Creole Seasoning Mix into the same package that has the other ingredients of many favorite Cajun dishes.

Venable commented on the many flavors offered through their bagged Cajun food mixes.

“So far, we have five flavors which are Crawfish Etouffee, Seafood Stew, Cajun Gumbo, Seafood Gumbo, and even a Dry Cajun Roux,” he said. “One-fourth of the new facility will house the gumbo department. These mixes are becoming very popular around Acadiana and across the country.”

In the last five years, Guidry’s Fresh Cuts in Arnaudville has worked hard to make their plant modernized to increase the production sent to grocers and Kevin Guidry Produce Market in Upper Lafayette Parish. Stores across Acadiana, Louisiana, and Texas are selling Guidry’s Creole Seasoning Mix, Guidry Cajun Food mixes, and soon other bagged items with the Guidry’s logo will come to a store near you.

Todd Stelly, vice president and general manger of Guidry’s Fresh Cuts, spoke of why the Guidry family chose to remain and grow in Arnaudville.

“Kevin began learning this business in Arnaudville at the age of 5 under the direction of his father,” Stelly said. “This is his hometown. Guidry’s Fresh Cuts is a business that has seen major progress over the years. One could say that Guidry’s grew itself. The one thing that is certain and a true testament to our growth is that our products speak for themselves.”

The new facility, which is set for completion in December, will assist this family-owned company to continue to on a path of success in business and with pleasing their customers taste buds.
