SHREVEPORT – A man accused of the unprovoked killing of a Shreveport police officer is now scheduled for Oct. 8, two years after he walked up to the officer and shot him.

Christopher Brian Cope, 25, is charged with the first-degree murder of Sgt. Tim Prunty in October 2010.

The trial date was continued this week after Cope’s attorney cited issues within his organization.

Judge Mike Pitman gave Dwight Doskey three more months to prepare, rather than the year he asked for.
