Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Theresa Theriot Cormier, 84, who passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. A Rosary will be prayed in French by her niece, Shirley Theriot, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by a wake service conducted by the Catholic Daughters.

Rev. Donald Pousson will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Altar servers will be Luke and David Theriot, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Theriot. Scriptures will be read by Carolyn Broussard, Elaine Bernard and Shirley Theriot. Gift Bearers will be Cecile Dupuis, Marie Broussard and Barbara Credeur.

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2.

Mrs. Cormier was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas – Court St. Paul No. 1434. She was also one of the original Pink Ladies at Gary Memorial Hospital, now St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge, and was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary – Post 4215, during which time she held and served in all capacities of office within the auxiliary.

Theresa loved traveling and working in her yard. In her free time she enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and Pokeno with her family and friends.

She is survived by three sisters, Cecile Dupuis and husband Paul of Lafayette, Marie Broussard of Cecilia and Lucille Ann Theriot of Breaux Bridge; three brothers, Cliny Theriot and wife Betty of Lafayette, Allie Theriot and wife Joann, and Nolan Theriot and wife Joyce, all of St. Martinville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Don Louis and Lucia Breaux Theriot; her beloved husband, Edmond Cormier; her son, Bernard Cormier; three brothers, Woodrow, Willis and Dudley Theriot; and two sisters, Rita Romero and Judy Theriot.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Dupuis, Larry Theriot, Allen Theriot, Lorne Theriot, Reese Theriot and Blaine Theriot.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cliny, Allie, and Nolan Theriot, Gaylord Theriot, Dana Broussard and Mike Dupuis.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
