Former broadcaster

MONROE – Services for former broadcast reporter Ruth Phelps Mickel will be Friday. She died April 25 at age 90.

She was a former radio broadcaster for WDSU in New Orleans, WKRG in Mobile and KNOE in Monroe. She worked as a public librarian before joining KNOE-TV as its senior reporter. She was active in a number of community organizations and was chosen Louisiana Mother of the Year.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Mulhearn.

Rental store owner

NEW IBERIA – Services for businessman and community leader Donald “KeeWee” Cox will be Saturday. He died April 24 at age 79.

He was long-time owner of Iberia Rental Service and also owned Parties Plus Bridals store and a thoroughbred horse breeder.

Survivors include his wife Sue, a son and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Pellerin.
