Breaux Bridge – Bayou Teche Experience here in Breaux Bridge and Pack and Paddle in Lafayette are both offering special deals for dog owners who want to take their pets on the Great Bayou Teche Dog Paddle this Sunday but don’t have a boat.

Both liveries are offering fully rigged boats for one or two paddlers for just $20.

Cory Werk at Bayou Teche Experience is located next to Parc des Ponts de Pont Breaux, where the eight-mile leisure cruise will begin. Call him at (337) 366-0337.

John Williams of Pack and Paddle said if enough people reserve boats to justify a trailer, they will bring the boats to Breaux Bridge and pick them up in Parks. The $20 fee holds regardless, he said. Call Pack and Paddle at (337) 232-5854 – sooner the better.

A shuttle service is being provided by St. Martin Parish Government.

The cost to participate in the Great Bayou Teche Dog Paddle is $25 per paddler with proceeds benefitting St. Martin Parish Animal Services.

At Cecile Rousseau Memorial Park in Parks there will be music from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. by All-O-Cajun DJ Services. Vendors will also be on hand to provide pet-related services, food and drink. This is an alcohol-free event.

The event will begin with sign-in between 7 and 8 a.m., a safety talk at 8:15 a.m. and launch at 8:30 a.m.

Registration forms can be picked up at the Teche News or the St. Martin Parish Animal Shelter, both in St. Martinville, or at any St. Martin Parish Veterinary Clinic. The forms can also be downloaded from the TECHE Project website at www.techeproject.com or by requesting one from info@tourduteche.com.

Tour du Teche, the annual paddle marathon, is sponsoring the Great Bayou Teche Dog Paddle.
