Cecilia’s Lady Bulldogs suffered their first District 5-4A loss last week, falling to league-leading St. Thomas More on Wednesday.

Both teams entered the games with 6-0 district worksheets but the Lady Cougars got a big effort from freshman pitcher Camille Arceneaux to silence the Cecilia bats on the way to a 9-0 shutout victory.

The loss left Cecilia, which had defeated St. Martinville on Tuesday, with a 15-9, 6-1 worksheet while STM improved to 14-6, 7-0.

The Lady Cougars also rolled past Breaux Bridge, 16-0, in a game played Thursday.

There were no reports on the BB-Teurlings or the SM-Northside games played last week.

Regular season action ends this week with Northside at Breaux Bridge on Wednesday (April 4) and Teurlings Catholic at St. Martinville on Thursday, April 5. Cecilia will get a chance to avenge last week’s loss to STM when they host the Lady Cougars Thursday in hopes of throwing the district race into a tie.
