Strokes, defibrillators topics of VFC meeting

Cathy Boudreaux spoke about stroke awareness and defibrillators at the February St. Martin Volunteers for Family and Commuity (VFC) meeting.

Boudreaux discussed in detail the reasons for knowing about strokes, their signs and symptoms, who is affected, how to respond, and Automated External Devices (A.E.D.s). She also passed out educational materials to all members.

Iva Theriot presided over the Catahoula VFC meeting and read an inspirational reading, “Reflections.”

Barbara Latiolais entertained the group with Mardi Gras spiels. She will host the March meeting.

Melba Laviolette hosted the Catahoula VFC meeting where mini demonstrations were given on various types of quilts including “ISP,” a child’s quilt to identify animals, Jack-in-the-box, Alzheimer’s block, Mystery Quilt and a Patriotic quilt.

Elsie Castille presided over the Breaux Bridge VFC meeting. Kim Gravouilla led the group in the recitation of the Pledge and Club Collect. Delores Mills led the group in the French recitation of the Pledge. Gussie Delahoussaye gave horticultural hints.

Reports were given on the Heritage Skills Workshop, and Eula Landry and Barbara Bird were recognized for their excellent demonstration on bonnets.

Reports were also given on the educational tour to Grand Coteau, the literary program, convention, International Day and Area IV Day.

Rose Brown, director of The Extra Mile, presented a certificate of Appreciation to the VFC membership.
