St. Martinville – During the month of December patrons of St. John Restaurant in St. Martinville can view an art and photography exhibit by local artists Margaret Melancon and Roxy Blanton.

Melancon, a native of New Iberia, is a prize-winning photographer and artist. Her work has been sold nationally and internationally. She has received awards from the City of Franklin, the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival, Lafayette Art Association, and Crowley Art Association. She is currently a member of L’Acadian Art Guild, Lafayette Art Association, Azalea Garden Club, and is an in-house artist at Duchamp Opera House and Acadian Village Art Gallery. Her work can be seen at any of these places, as well as Shadows on the Teche.

Blanton is a retired educator and photographer also from New Iberia. Her photographs have received recognition in the Iberia Sugar Cane Festival Photography Show, the Lafayette Art Association’s Freeze Frame and Eye of the Beholder Competitions, Upstairs Frames & Photos Gallery Show Offs Competition, and Lafayette Festival des Fleurs Photography Contest.

Chip Durand, owner of St. John Restaurant, is working in conjunction with L’Acadian Art Guild to present exhibits by local artists on a rotating basis. Members of the art guild will take turns presenting their work.
