Arnaudville – Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church for Mary Miller Melancon, 70, who passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Father Keenan Brown officiated at the funeral service. Scriptures were read by Lindsay Escoyne and Kimberly Miller. Gift Bearers were Hanna Escoyne, Shawn Escoyne and Kelsey Lejeune.

Interment followed at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery.

Mrs. Melancon loved doing cross-stitch work in her free time – a pastime which she found to be very relaxing. She enjoyed going camping, but treasured mostly the times she could spend with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, George Melancon of Arnaudville; four sons, Darrell Escoyne and wife Michelle of Arnaudville, Guy Escoyne and wife Angella of Cecilia, Bernard “Boogie” Escoyne and wife Connie of Arnaudville, and Jason Escoyne and wife Leslie of Cecilia; one daughter, Tina Savoie and husband Joseph of Arnaudville; two step daughters, Pam Castille and husband Mitch and Starla Melancon, all of Ville Platte; two brothers, George Miller and wife Bea of Arnaudville and Leonce Miller Jr. and wife Sally of Cecilia; 11 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonce Miller Sr. and Etta Olivier Miller.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Pallbearers were Nicholas, Cameron, Tyler, and Alex Escoyne, Casey, Kyle, Joshua and Caleb Savoie.

Honorary pallbearers were Darrell, Guy, Bernard “Boogie” and Jason Escoyne, Joseph Savoie and George Miller.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Arnaudville was in charge of arrangements.
