St. Martinville – Funeral services were conducted for Russel “Boy” Albert, 77, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church on Aug. 18. Entombment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum.

A native of St. Martinville, Mr. Albert passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at his residence.

Mr. Albert was a sugarcane farmer for over 60 years and served in the LA National Guard Reserves for 23 years. He also served numerous terms on the boards of the Farm Bureau, St. Martin Sugar Coop, Farm Service Agency, and the St. Martin Sugarcane Advisory Committee.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, the former Melba Landry; his son and four daughters, Curry (Vickie) Albert of St. Martinville, Mrs. Edward (Joan) Cormier of Henderson, Mrs. Raymond (Terry) Hebert of Loreauville, Mrs. Jacques (Glenda) LeBlanc of Katy, Texas, and Mrs. Kevin (Jennifer) Ebarb of St. Martinville; four brothers, Wilbert, Clesma, Burton and Roland Albert, all of St. Martinville; five sisters, Irene Theriot of Parks, Sidney Mae Louviere and Clara Wiltz of St. Martinville, Helen Bienvenu of Arnaudville and Livia Olivier of Catahoula; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ambrose and Moise Albert Jr.; and his sisters, Florence Hebert and Loraine Louviere.

Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
