St. Martinville – Services for Mrs. Gladys Prescott Menard, 78, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Notre Dame Catholic Church with the Rev. Agustinus Seran officiating.

Interment was in the St. Joseph Mausoleum.

A Rosary was recited at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel.

She was a native and lifelong resident of St. Martinville. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Goodwill Society. She worked for the St. Martin Parish School as a custodian and cafeteria worker.

Survivors include two sons, Andrew (Gloria) Menard of St. Martinville and Eddie (Carol) Menard of Carencro; six daughters, Sandra Durand, Mary (Floyd) Doucet, Sharon Menard and Patsy (Alfred) Robertson of St. Martinville, Jennifer Parrish of Brandon, Fla., and Vivian (Matthew) Holyfield of Inkster, Mich.; two sisters, Hilda Clemons of Los Angeles, Cal., and Myrtle Pierre of St. Martinville; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Wallace Menard; her parents, Harry and Aurelia Prescott; two brothers, Alton and Russell Prescott; two sisters, Lydia Marine and Nita Ledet; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Menard; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Active Pallbearers were Lynul Durand, Bryan Doucet Sr., Marlon Miller Sr., Finis Johnson, Edward Menard Jr. and Edmond Menard.

Honorary Pallbearers were Floyd Doucet, Alfred Robertson, Matthew Holyfield, Edward Menard Sr., Delcambre Batiste Sr., Paul Menard Sr., Bill Menard, Peter Savoy, Leonard Francois and Rubin Francois.

The Golden Meadows Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
