Lafayette – Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at a 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Floyd J. Breaux, 80, who passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2011, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.

Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in Duson, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Jaclyn Dugas and Terri Dooley. Lectors will be Jason Breaux and Trey Breaux.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Bootsie W. Breaux of Lafayette; one daughter, Alice Breaux of Lafayette; four sons, Floyd J. “Jimbo” Breaux Jr. and his wife Janet of Youngsville, Michael Breaux of Mandeville, Thomas Breaux of Breaux Bridge and Jason Breaux of El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren, Trey Breaux, Jaclyn Dugas, Jean Breaux, Marsha Williams, Melissa Williams and Patrick Williams; four sisters, Audrey Bernard of Lafayette, Barbara Calais of Fayetteville, N.C., Shirley Daughtery of Louisville, Ky. and Renella Linscomb of Lafayette; and two brothers, Ronald Breaux and Alton Breaux Jr., both of Cecilia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Breaux Sr. and Yolande Hardy Breaux; and one brother, Ulysse Breaux.

A native of Port Arthur, Texas and a resident of Lafayette, Floyd Breaux was the owner/operator of Floyd J. Breaux Painting Contractors since 1952. He was a member of the Painting Decoration Contractors of America (PDCA) and the Exchange Club. He had a passion for French music and loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Trey Breaux, Jean Breaux, Nerry Dooley, Thomas Dooley, Kent Nero and Danny West.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Tujague, Robert Delahoussaye, Bill Koch, Don O’Rourke, Dave Williams and Dr. Luis Mes.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s Downtown Lafayette location on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Breaux’s name may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 1250 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA 70501.
