The Breaux Bridge Tigers came up short in their quest for a state baseball championship, falling to Ruston in the quarterfinal round Monday evening.

Coach Kyle Cormier’s squad ended an outstanding season with a 20-12 mark while Ruston improved to 25-10 and will meet St. Louis of Lake Charles in a semifinal matchup on Friday.

The Tigers had reached the quarter finals by trimming No. 1-seeded Tioga 4-3 in the regional round earlier last week. Senior pitcher Chaz Hebert gave up four hits while walking two and striking out 10 to get the win.

The Teurlings Rebels also came up shy of a win in the quarterfinal round, leaving St. Michael to advance. The Rebels ended their season with a 28-6 record.

St. Michael will meet West Ouachita on Friday in the state semi-finals.
