Cecilia – Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Ronald Joseph Pontiff, 66, who passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Opelousas General Medical Center.

Fr. Donald Pousson officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Ronald worked for Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel out of Pine Bluff, Arkansas for 17 years. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, doing carpentry work, working around his home, dancing, and spending time with his family and friends. Ronald could make anyone he had met feel welcomed by his warm smile that would illuminate a room.

A devout Catholic, his faith and belief in God remained strong his entire life. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Linda Berard Pontiff of Arnaudville; three daughters, Carla Barth and her husband Eugene of Jacksonville, Fla., Michelle P. Goldmen and her husband Steve of St. Stephens, Ala., and Nichol L. Pontiff of Arnaudville; three brothers, Luke Pontiff Sr. and his wife Rita of Arnaudville, Lester Pontiff of Brewton, Ala., and Adolph Pontiff Jr. and his wife Leverly of Arnaudville; two sisters, Margine Ella Latiolais and her husband Vernon, and Mary Lee LaGrange; his sister-in-law, Mildred Pontiff; his brother-in-law, Bruno Quebedeaux, all of Arnaudville; and seven grandchildren, Reneé Roberts of Butler, Ala., Amber Pontiff of Opelousas, Matthew Pontiff of Opelousas, Byron Busby of St. Stephens, Ala., Silas and Sedrick Suarez, and Kaiden Viator, all of Arnaudville.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carleen Pontiff; his son, Johnny Pontiff; his parents, Adolph Pontiff Sr. and Agnes Duplechain Pontiff; three sisters, Alice and Elaine Pontiff, and Modest P. Quebedeaux; and his brother, Chester Pontiff.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Arnaudville was in charge of arrangements.
