Grand Isle fishing guide Keith “Herk” Bergeron found the fresh carcass of a blue marlin estimated at around 150 pounds on the beach at Grand Isle.

Bergeron found the deep-water fish as he was walking his dogs. “There were no signs of trauma to the skin like it was tail wrapped by a fishing line and no signs of (it) being bitten by a shark and no hooks in the mouth,” Bergeron said.

“I truly believe this fish beached itself because the color was still a bright blue and the fins were still in a moveable stage, they were not stiff like it was dead for hours.”

The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries took the carcass for tests.
