The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for citizens’ help in finding a shoplifting suspect.

Deputies say that on Wednesday, March 16, a man identified as Daniel Scott Palmer, 36, of Lafayette, and an unidentified white male entered Dave’s Texaco on North Main Street in St. Martinville, and shoplifted several bottles of alcoholic beverages totaling approximately $40.00.

Witnesses said the suspects left the scene in a black Chevrolet pickup truck bearing Louisiana license plate X786678.

Palmer is also wanted by the St. Martinville Police Department in connection with a previous incident Feb. 22 at Cade’s Market on North Main Street in St. Martinville. Palmer allegedly entered Cade’s and exited with an alcoholic beverage without paying.

The suspect was confronted by a store employee at which time he alledgedly committed battery against the employee.

In addition to arrest warrants resulting from the above incidents, Palmer is also wanted by the Lafayette Police Department in connection with similar incidents that occurred in the Lafayette area.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Daniel Scott Palmer is asked to contact the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office at 394-3071.
