Breaux Bridge – Rob Hollier, pharmacist, was the guest speaker at the Breaux Bridge Volunteers for Family and Community meeting.

He discussed strategies to avoid medication errors – communication between the doctor and pharmacist regarding drug allergies, medical conditions, daily medications and changes in medications.

New prescriptions require the name of the product, dosing (with or without food), side effects, drug interactions, and food interactions. Hollier stated that 73 percent of all medicines are generics.

He stressed that we are in charge of our bodies and must re-evaluate our prescription plans every year.

Plans were made for the educational trip to the Teche Museum, LVFC State Convention, AARP meeting and Senior Expo.

Members received information on Living Wills, household hints and Bobbin Side-Winders.

Wildie D. Roberts was welcomed as a new member.
