Abbeville man shoots alleged would-be burglar and accomplice, charged with attempted murder

A man whose house was broken into around 1 a.m. Friday is charged with attempted murder after shooting at the two fleeing suspects, hitting one and also hitting their accomplice.

According to Abbeville police, Allen Grogan and Laderick Narcisse enter the Abbeville home of Herman Wimbley, thinking he was not home, with burglary on their minds. A 15-year-old girl with them remained outside, serving as a lookout.

When Wimbley heard his front door being kicked in, he armed himself and went to the front room, confronting the suspects revolver in hand.

When the dynamic duo fled, Wimbley fired, hitting one in the band and the girl in the arm. She underwent surgery later in the day. The man’s would was termed minor.

Wimbley is charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal use of a weapoin or dangerous instrumentality.

Grogan and Narcisse are charged with attempted simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The moll is charged with attempted simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and curfew violation.
