Want to surprise Velma Johnson? Next time you walk into the Sheriff’s Office in St. Martinville, she is the lady dispatcher sitting there at the entrance answering the phone and greeting the visitors. Tell this cute chic “hi” from her #1 fan in Butte La Rose.
When I was running trucks it was difficult getting off the Henderson I-10 exit. To make a left turn, truckers must turn their rigs a sharp right and hold it there to watch out for traffic coming from the right before proceeding to that left turn.
Things have not gotten any better since there is more traffic now.
I still watch drivers set there waiting on the traffic to lighten so they can slowly proceed on that narrow single left lane turn. Business is growing at the Breaux Bridge exit since that area has improved making easy access on and off the big road.
And I mentioned “jake” brakes last week; those are quicker than using the truck’s brakes. No matter what the speed when that driver takes his foot off the accelerator, that jake is instant on to slow down that rig. It is safer and faster.
In all honesty and in my opinion, they’re safer to use in local traffic. Every inch of everyone’s life has been delivered by trucks. And also, truckers look down in those four wheelers and can see everything that’s happening on those front seats. It can be hilarious. I wonder why jake brakes have not been put on cars?
Groundhog did not see its shadow this day. And then the winter storm happened.
If we have any doubts of whether it’s accurate or not, we’ve got two weeks to see if this little critter knows its yon-yions.
It’s a fact, spring is just around the corner and we’ll be seeing the newly blooming wild flowers that come with it. I think the most common flowers are the yellow ones.
Willows are budding new leaves. I replanted cypress trees and hope they’ll take. Birds will be building new nests soon. There are several still under my house where they nested last year.
I encountered my first snake this week. We’re cleaning out the wooded area behind my camp by pulling old wood buried in dirt. I saw what I thought looked like a snake skin and I almost reached down to pluck it from a tree stump with my hand when I realized it was a live one. I had a long stick that I poked it with, but it was not afraid of me. It looked like it was going to come after me. I was ready to make a run I guarantee. I’d have ran to Willis Boudreaux’s house and had him protect his cousin.
I’m taking a free computer course at a library in Lafayette. I’m glad it’s free, because I’m paying a good bit of gas money to travel there and back. It’s a continuous course and so far what I’ve learned has amazed me.
My kids have taught me a lot about my computer, but the course offers indepth knowledge about computers.
If your kids offer to buy you a computer, take it. Let them teach you to use it. You’re never too old to keep learning. You can explore the world just by searching the Internet for whatever you want.
There are seniors in their sixties through their nineties who are doing it.
Easter egg hunt! Amètie, bonne journée. Mon lam tout vous-autre pareil.
