Breaux Bridge – Sharon Wright, volunteer for Hospice of Acadiana, was the speaker for the St. Martin Volunteers for Family and Community.

Hospice of Acadiana Inc. is a local non-profit organization of compassionate, well-trained professionals, support staff, and volunteers who provide a comprehensive program of medical care, counseling, and spiritual direction to persons with life-threatening conditions and their families.

For more than 25 years, Hospice of Acadiana has served our community by providing comprehensive care during life’s most difficult phase. They offer total support to their patients and their loved ones. She also discussed their mission, service area and their care team.

Elsie Castille presided over the Breaux Bridge meeting and Iva Theriot presided over the Catahoula meeting. Betty Frederick led the group in the recitation of the Pledge and Club Collect.

Several mini-demonstrations were given: crawfish pin, prayer blankets, jewel box, quilting, memory quilts, new type of baking pans, walking canes, photo albums, onesie dresses and scarf tying. Gussie Delahoussaye gave horticultural information on the care of decorative yard plants.

Members made plans to participate in the Heritage Skills Workshop.

Plans were also made for educational trips, council meeting, up-coming monthly meetings, convention and International Day.

Educational information was given on the Wanda Landry Scholarship, Activity Pyramid and book selections.
