Charges have been dropped, with the mother’s consent, against a man accused of trying to kill an unborn child to avoid paying child support.

Kenneth Myers of 1445 Yukon was charged with attempted feticide and three other offenses when arrested in September 2009.

He was scheduled for jury selection this month when he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic abuse battery and the state dismissed the attempted feticide felony count as well as charges of simple criminal damage to property and false imprisonment.

The record notes that the dismissals were with the consent of his wife. When arrested, his then-estranged pregnant wife told police that Myers beat her in the abdomen in an effort to kill the baby and avoid child support payments.

Judge Doherty fined Myers $300 and court costs or 10 days in jail and placed him on probation.

Probation is a subject Myers is familiar with.

He was put on probation by Judge Lynette Feucht in City Court on Sept. 20, after being found guilty on two counts of simple battery. He got six months in jail, all but 90 days suspended, and probation for two years.

That was one day after his arrest on charges of simple battery, domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace, a case which will take him back to City Court.
