New Iberia – Laura Allen, a native of Midwest City, Okla., recently became chief financial officer of Dauterive Hospital.

“Dauterive Hospital has a wonderful reputation for quality patient care and a truly community-family culture,” Allen said. “I wanted to be part of that environment. I was both honored and excited to be offered the CFO role at Dauterive.”

Allen graduated Cum Laude from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She got her start in healthcare at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston Medical Center. From there, she worked for Community Health Systems in Cleveland, Texas, and San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas.

Allen worked for Conroe Regional Medical Center in Conroe, Texas, for four years before accepting the position at Dauterive Hospital.

“I love my job and the fact that I can spend my time doing something that makes a difference in people’s lives,” she said.

Allen’s long-term goals include helping to position Dauterive Hospital as the hospital of choice in the Teche Area for quality patient care and “to continue to provide that care in a cost effective manner that our patients need and deserve,” she added.

Dauterive Hospital, founded in 1920 by the late Dr. Henry Dauterive, is a 103-bed full-service, acute care, accredited hospital that offers a full spectrum of services, including cardiovascular care, general surgery, orthopedics, emergency care, urological care and outpatient surgery.
