Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Rev. Charles Langlois was the Celebrant.
Born on October 18, 1938, Mr. Begnaud began his professional career working for First National Bank of Lafayette, and then for Harry Hebert Homes. Afterwards he owned and operated Service Tile in Lafayette. Mr. Begnaud then developed the Bayview Marina and Bayview Pointe at Cypremort Point. He was co-founder of the Cypremort Point Volunteer Fire Dept., and was very active in maintaining the St. Francis Chapel at Cypremort Point, where he served as an usher.
Mr. Begnaud had a deep love for Cypremort Point. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Guidry Begnaud of Cypremort Point; son, Nicky Begnaud and wife Nicole of Cypremort Point; daughters, Brenda Begnaud Guidry and husband Billy of Cecilia, Toni Begnaud Gerami and husband Gary of Lafayette; grandchildren, Brittney Guidry, Blaise Guidry, Ben Guidry, Lauren Begnaud, Emily Begnaud, Nicholas Begnaud, Grant Gerami and Giles Gerami; and a great-grandson, Cohen Theriot.
He was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Doris Foreman Begnaud.
Pallbearers were P.R. Burke, Ken Dejean, Billy Guidry, Gary Gerami, Monte Stutes and Blaise Guidry.
Jimmy Comeaux served as an honorary pallbearer.
A rosary was prayed at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
