Texting Zachary drunk driver gets $1,000 fine, house arrest in fatal accident

ZACHARY -- A woman whose paralysed passenger was killed when she crashed while texting and driving drunk will pay a $1,000 fine.

Additionally, Christine Braud, 33, will spend six months under house arrest for teh wreck that killed Bruce Chaisson, 33, of Ethel.

Chaisson, paralyzed from the chest down since a 1994 wreck, was under Chaison’s professional care.

He died when Braud drove her van into the back of a stalled vehilce on I-110 near Airline Highway in Baton Rouge on the night of Nov. 5, 2009.

Braud faces unrelated charges in a hit-and-run accident involving alcohol that happened in Port Allen earlier this year.
