On June 22, 2008, Louisiana State Police–Troop I, investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on I-10 westbound near La 91, which claimed the lives of twenty-six year old Corey Stelly of Jennings, La, sixty-seven year old Joseph Garreck of Houston, Tx. and forty-seven year old Eronia Dickens of Houston, Tx.

The crash investigation has revealed that Joseph Garreck was traveling east in the westbound travel lanes on I-10, when he struck a 2005 Chevrolet pick-up driven by Corey Stelly. All three people involved in the crash were pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor in this crash; blood was obtained and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
