Two Amite men have been arrested for gambling in the street. Both were arrested on the evening of Wednesday, February 11 by Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Deputies.

The suspects identified as Johnny McKnight, 36 of Amite and Moriel M. Williams, 31, also of Amite were both charged with illegal gambling. McKnight was also charged with resisting an officer.

TPSO Deputies were in Amite patrolling on Richardson Street where the noticed two men standing in the road. On closer inspection, the deputies noticed that both men had money in their hands and were rolling dice in the street.

When the deputies approached the men, McKnight ran. A foot pursuit followed and TPSO deputies were able to catch McKnight and after much resistance, arrested him. McKnight was sprayed with pepper spray and then handcuffed. He and Williams were transported to the TPSO jail were they were charged and booked.
