The St. Martinville Sr. High basketball Tigers won two of three games played in the big Peabody Invitational tournament held in Alexandria last week while Breaux Bridge and Cecilia were not as successful in tournaments held in Baton Rouge and Lafayette.

The ’Ville notched wins over Crowley (87-57) and Woodlawn of Baton Rouge (67-51) before falling to the hosting Warhorses 61-54 in overtime. The tournament action left St. Martinville with a 5-1 early season record.

Breaux Bridge participated in the Indians Invitational hosted by Istrouma High of Baton Rouge and came away with one victory over East Baton Rouge Lab (42-29) but dropped contests to Scotlandville (60-38) and Pointe Coupee Central (49-28).

The Cecilia Bulldogs lost all three of their games in Lafayette High’s Coca-Cola Tip-off Classic. Coach Marty Lewis’ ’Dogs fell to Rayne (55-45), Acadiana (58-50) and Denham Springs (51-40).

There were no reports on the BB-Northwest or Cecilia-Erath games played on Nov. 30.

Friday, Dec. 10 – St. Martinville at L.W. Higgins.
