Breaux Bridge – Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Simon Calais, 70, who passed away Oct. 22, 2009, at St. Martin Hospital. Services will be conducted by Rev. James P. Fallon, SSJ. Interment will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia.

Simon enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his grandchildren, listening to Zydeco, going with his son, Chris, who is a Disc Jockey at trail rides and going to church on Saturdays. He retired from oilfield operations. Everyone knew him by his loving smile and enjoyed talking to him at the washerteria. He will be missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margaret Derouselle Calais; two sons, Christopher Calais (Lee Anna) and Larry Calais (Lois), both of Cecilia; two daughters, Marie Ledet of Lafayette and Arminthe Calais (fiancé, Terrell Davis) of Cade; three brothers, Herman Calais Sr., Leroy Calais Sr. and Delany Calais Jr., all of Breaux Bridge; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delany Calais Sr.; his mother, Mary Broussard Calais; two brothers, Joseph Calais and Moise Calais; and son-in-law, Allen Ledet.

Pallbearers will be Justin Calais, Leroy Calais Jr., Sebastian Calais, Patrick Calais, Mitchell Calais and Christopher Calais.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Syrie Funeral Home beginning at 7 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 8 a.m.
