Breaux Bridge – Yvette Greig and Reggie Maraist presented an informative program, “All about Pickles,” when members met at the home of Betty Dunham.

Yvette reported on the history of pickles, stating that they date back to Biblical times and were very popular in many parts of Europe. Some people have even praised the healing effects of pickled cucumbers.

Yvette also explained the pickling process, different kinds of pickles and their nutritional value.

Reggie gave examples of each kind of pickle, and the various cuts and recipes in which pickles are used.

Samples of pickles and foods prepared with each type of pickle were offered to the members for their tasting enjoyment.

A brief business meeting was conducted by Arleen Oubre, president. The treasurer’s report was given and committee reports were heard.

Members thanked secret pals for their gifts.

The next meeting entitled “Family Style” will be held at Rouse’s. Chef Nino will give the presentation.

Members in attendance were Shirley Fuselier, Elaine Case, Bobbie Theriot, Louella Champagne, Charlotte Chataignier, Arleen Oubre, Patsy Braud, Reggie Maraist, Yvette Greig, Lynnie Bienvenu and hostess, Betty Dunham.
